Candle Care Guide
Welcome to our Candle Care Guide! To help you get the most out of your candles, we’ve compiled some simple tips to ensure a safe, long-lasting, and beautifully fragrant experience.
Before You Light Your Candle
1. Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting. This helps prevent excessive smoke, uneven burning, and soot buildup.
2. Choose the Right Surface: Place your candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface away from flammable objects or drafts.
While Your Candle Burns
1. Allow the Wax Pool to Melt Evenly: During the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the container. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn for future uses.
2. Keep It in Sight: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it within view and away from children or pets.
3. Avoid Drafts: Drafts can cause uneven burning or excessive smoke. Make sure your candle is in a calm, draft-free area.
4. Do not move a burning candle: a burning candle will be hot to touch and may cause burns if touched or welted wax spills.
Extinguishing Your Candle
1. Use a Snuffer: Blow gently or use a snuffer to extinguish your candle. Avoid splashing wax or creating smoke by blowing too hard.
2. Wait Before Moving: Let the wax cool and solidify before moving the candle to avoid spills.
General Candle Tips
1. Burn Time: Do not burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time. Overburning can lead to soot and overheating of the container.
2. Storage: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain their scent and color. Some fragrances contain vanillin which can discolour over time. This does not affect the safety or use of the candle.
3. Reuse Containers: Once your candle is finished, clean out the container and reuse it! Many of our jars make great organizers or decorative accents.
Safety Reminders
• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
• Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire.
• Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom to prevent overheating.
• Inspect candle before use. Any signs of defect to the jar please discontinue use.
